AUTHENTICITY SPAWNS IMITATION - Ezenekwe, Franca Ngozi(Ph.D)

In a world where authenticity and counterfeits coexist, discernment and keen observation are essential to distinguish between the two. Unfortunately, values like morals, courtesy, and reverence for righteousness, once integral to human culture, are being redefined and dismissed as obsolete. Social media often exacerbates this issue, where individuals present a facade driven by societal pressures, insecurities, or the desire for acceptance, leading to a loss of true identity and meaningful relationships.

This trend is particularly concerning in the realm of faith. God's standards and the truth of the Gospel are under constant attack. Some claim to be preachers and believers yet distort divine principles to accommodate sinful lifestyles, contrary to Jude 1:4. Others dismiss serving God as incompatible with modern living, branding Christianity as outdated.

However, Christ's sacrifice and the unchanging Word remain the foundation for eternal hope and purpose (Hebrews 13:8). Education and vocational training, once celebrated as pathways to a brighter future, are being undermined. A deceptive narrative suggests these pursuits lack relevance, a lie intended to derail destinies filled with divine potential (Proverbs 4:7).

The dignity of labor has also been misrepresented. Hard work, designed by God as a noble means to provide for oneself and others, is now scorned as suffering or a waste of effort. Many youths have fallen into the trap of seeking quick wealth, often to their detriment (Proverbs 14:23). Parents and leaders must stress the value of honest work and encourage young people to embrace roles that earn a living.

Character remains a vital aspect of one's personality, and traits like sincerity, love, and honesty should not be traded for fleeting benefits. Even when facing challenges, hold fast to your values; genuine individuals are still highly esteemed (Proverbs 22:1). As followers of Christ, we must rise to the occasion, using every resource, including technology, to defend and spread the unchanging truth of the Gospel. Stay rooted in God's standard, for it alone endures and leads to true fulfillment (Matthew 24:35).
